Real 2 Reel Cinema were delighted to launch their second season with the fantastic news that they have been successful in their bid for Awards for All funding. Real 2 Reel community Cinema has been awarded ₤9,990.00 from Lottery funds to enable them to purchase their own screening equipment.

Real 2 Reel Cinema was launched in April 2006 with 9 members and now has over 65. The enthusiasm for the monthly screenings has been tremendous with record attendances of over 150 people.

Real 2 Reel Cinema presents monthly evening screenings at the Theatre Royal, Ramsbottom and you will experience a friendly, comfortable and relaxed environment. The Theatre Royal has a public bar which certainly helps to create an inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy a variety of high quality films.

Real 2 Reel Cinema could not have developed without the support they have received from The Met, Bury’s leading arts venue who have offered their expertise and backing to the project.

As well as screening a wide selection of challenging and entertaining features Real 2 Reel Cinema has brought back the “B movie” to the big screen. Each month a short film is shown prior to the main feature. Real 2 Reel are looking at ways of supporting and encouraging local film makers and, if you have work which you would like to bring to a wider audience we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Real 2 Reel Cinema is delighted to announce their new venue for 2010 - The Theatre Royal, Ramsbottom. Although the building was initially opened as a cinema, screenings ended in 1968 and we are thrilled to be able to screen movies in Ramsbottom once more, in their original home. We expect that our films will provide an exciting addition to the Summerseat Players' repetoire and screenings in the theatre Royal will enable us to offer films to a larger audience in greater comfort and highly appropriate surroundings.
